Emergence at Ayala Museum

"Emergence"
Jaime Zobel, Wilmer Lopez, Jordan Mendoza, Reg Yuson
November 10 to December 8, 2006
Ground Floor
Ayala Museum

More than a photographer or a businessman, Jaime Zobel is a thinker. He poses questions that challenge the mundane and then sets out to look for answers, or as often is the case, to create a solution.

This time around, he asked a group of young artists: How does one bring art into a life of routine?

EMERGENCE is photographer Jaime Zobel, interior designer Wilmer Lopez, figurative sculptor Jordan Mendoza and conceptual sculptor Reg Yuson, merging visions and artistic sensibilities to create living spaces infused with imagination.

Jaime Zobel’s photography sets the standard, anchors the tone in the spaces. The original creations of Wilmer Lopez, Jordan Mendoza and Reg Yuson interplay, mesh, and connect with the artistic and emotional resonance that Jaime Zobel’s photography establishes.

Swiss sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti once said, “The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity.” In this case, EMERGENCE constructs a reality where aesthetic meets practicality and temper meets logic, and where a life of routine is a thing of the past.
