Indrapura at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila

Indrapura

Indrapura
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
December 2, 6 and 9, 2006

The Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) Magwayen Creative Scholars' Guild is proud to present the stage play, a love epic entitled: Indrapura.

"Indrapura" chronicles Lilagretha's true love for Elindro and how it presses her to claim the lives of a lot of people and bring demise to the whole Sultanate of Indrapura. This story of Indrapura is about love and revenge and is the second installment of a three-part epic, two parts of which were already staged-Episode 1: Ang Prinsipe ng Marulaya (2005) and Episode 3: Bidasari (1999 and 2000) .

Indrapura is the much awaited stage production from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) Magwayen Creative Scholars' Guild-three-time Molave awardee for most outstanding university-wide organization.

The play, Indrapura, is written by Film Academy of the Philippines Screenplay Writing Competition Grand Winner, Marlon Miguel and directed by Gawad CCP awardee, John Borgy Danao.

Indrapura is set 18 years before Bidasari. Indrapura chronicles the doomed love affair of Lilagretha and Elindro. When Sulayman decided 2 raise his late brother’s daughter, he kept secret her true identity - that she has the rightful claim to the throne.

Lilagretha, his real daughter, learned this secret on her 20th birthday. She soon felt threatened that her place as Sultana in the future will no longer exist. This was aggravated by her fury when the man she loves was won by Lilasari, who she no longer called sister ut sworn enemy.

Aided by the evil sorceress, Tarsila, she tried to kill Lilasari. But when Lilagretha failed, she was soon sentenced to death. Lilasari bought Lilagretha’s freedom, putting her own life in Jeopardy. When Sulayman found about this, he sent Lilasari and Elindro to the forest. Lilagretha, mean while, went on to exact her revenge. She assumed Tarsila’s dark powers and used this to kill her parents. She became the Sultana, but she was all alone. All the people she loved where gone.

"Indrapura" will staged at the Pamantasan Ng Lungsod Ng Maynila in Intramuros, Manila.
