The UP Film Institute concludes its ongoing series of free films from Iran with a twinbill this Friday, 13 April 2007, at 5 p.m. onwards. Featured films: “Sara”—the Grand Prize Winner of Golden Seashell at San Sebastian , Spain and “Lost Time”—an early film by acclaimed lady director Puran Derakhshandeh who visited the Philippines in March 2005 as the Guest of Honor for the UP Film Institute’s International Women’s Film Festival presenting another of her films for the gala opening.

Lost Time
(Zaman-e Az Dast Rafteh, 1990, 100 minutes, with English subtitles)
A girl is adopted by a couple who cannot have children only to be sent back to the orphanage as she encounters difficulties to be admitted to her new family.
Direction and Screenplay: Puran Derakhshandeh. Cast: Faramarz Sedighi, Sanaz Sehatu, Tania Johari, Shala Riahi.

Sara (1993, 100 minutes, with English subtitles)
A perfect young housewife eager to serve has to labor secretly to pay the shady loan she was compelled to avail for her husband’s expensive surgery.
