Call for Entries to the MANILA PRIDE FEST: The International Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Film Festival 2007

MANILA PRIDE FEST: The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and
Transgender Film Festival 2007 for independent film and video with
this year's theme: Connecting the LGBT Community through Film and
Communication, is calling for films for its 1st Annual Festival. The
Festival will take place on October 12-19, 2007 in three main cities
of the Philippine archipelago- Manila, Cebu and Davao.
The deadline for film submissions is August 17, 2007.

In an era where hate crimes dominate the media, and where perceived
difference can be used as justification for inhumane behavior, it is
important that the message gets out that gays and lesbians are "Part
of the Family." We are all in this adventure called life together.

One of the things that we truly believe, and it's part of our mission
is that through communication comes understanding. The better way to
break down prejudice is through the medium of film.

Therefore, the festival aims to provide and serve as an avenue where
every distinction and thought is shared, celebrated and understood.

WHO CAN ENTER

The Festival is accepting shorts as well as feature-length films and
videos. Films and videos must have been produced after December 2005.
The Manila Pride Fest Film Festival is one of only two broadly
focused, independent festivals in the Philippines accepting works of
any type (dramatic, documentary, experimental, animation), on LGBT issues.

WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE LOCAL STUDENTS currently enrolled in colleges and
universities in the Philippines and the rest of Asia to take pride in
this festival because we believe that the budding filmmakers should
have an enough venue to showcase their fresh ideas and skills.

Filmmakers may enter their films either in competition or out of
competition. Films in competition will be judged by a jury of
distinguished industry professionals, peers and film fans. Whether in
or out of competition, all films will be eligible for Audience Pride
Favorite Awards.

The Festival offers an artistic exchange as well as opportunities for
the global creative community that are not available in the
established entertainment industry. It is designed to foster contact
among film directors, producers, distributors, backers and audiences.

The Festival's goal is to a premier LGBT film organization, Manila
Pride Fest empowers, educates, entertains, and provokes the culturally
rich and diverse communities and recognizes achievement and innovation
in a variety of filmmaking and storytelling disciplines while
providing an opportunity to secure wider distribution.
