Sound & Music Design for Film with Carol Bello

The University of the Philippines Film Institute (UPFI) invites you to
join any or all of its 2007 Multimedia Workshop offerings – a series
of short-term, specialized courses on the power of images and the
various aspects of film and audiovisual production.

One of the workshops to be offered this summer is:

Sound & Music Design for Film: Indigenous Filipino Music & World Chants
Facilitator: Carol Bello

Dates: June, 17, 24, July 1,8,15 (All Sundays)
Time: 10am – 6pm
Venue: UPFI Post-Facility or CMC
Fee: P 7,000, inclusive of light snacks, handouts, use of
equipment, and certificates.

Sound & Music Design for Film: Indigenous Filipino Music & World Chants
is a workshop for those who are interested in exploring sound-emotion
escapes for film, including directing and/or creating music scores,
inspired by traditional Filipino music and melodic chants from various
parts of the globe. Participants go through the basics of hands-on film
sound recording & sound manipulation, and, at the same time, learn
Filipino melodic & rhythmic patterns, played on indigenous and modern
instruments. If you are a musician, a music lover or film music
enthusiast, this workshop is for you.

The workshop facilitator, Carol Bello, is a composer and lyricist for a
number of bands, including Carol Enkantada and Carol Affection, and is
the lead vocalist of the Filipino world music group, Pinikpikan. She has
composed, sung, and/or chanted for art performances, theater, film, TV,
and advertisements. Some of her recent solo or collaborative works
include music or performance for: Compund (2006); In Da Red Korner
(2006); Donsol (2006); Sarung Banggi (2006); Jeep Tip (2005); Santa
Santita (2004); and the Philippine Ballet Theater's Buhay (2002-3).
She is an artistic collaborator of the Cultural Center of the
Philippines, and a lecturer at the UPFI, teaching courses on sound
design and music scoring.
