Pelikula, the Spanish Film Festival brought to you by Instituto Cervantes de Manila, is currently the biggest Spanish Film Festival in South East Asia .

On this year, we rediscover two important classics: the short films of world cinema pioneer Segundo de Chomón, as well as Los últimos de Filipinas.

PELICULA 2007 Author on Focus: María Ripoll

María Ripoll ( Barcelona , 1964) studied Cinema at the UCLA and the American Film Institute. She has worked both in the USA and Spain and has shown versatility in directing various films from different genres, from romantic comedies such as Tortilla Soup (2001) and Lluvia en los zapatos (1999) to adventure films like La aventura del intrépido (1999).

María Ripoll will grace PELÍCULA by presenting her two most recent films: the bittersweet story Tu vida en 65 (2006) and the thriller Utopía (2003), on their premiere showing on October 2.

Moviegoers will be able to vote for the Best Film of the Festival. The Audience Choice Film will be shown again at the closing of the Festival on October 14, 7pm.
