Photographing Corregidor

PHOTOGRAPHING CORREGIDOR
October 29-30, 6:30 am assembly with a pre-trip lecture on October 27 at 6-8pm and a post-trip critiquing on November 3 at 6-8pm

Located at the entrance of Manila Bay, Corregidor is a tadpole-shaped island. It is a remnant of a volcano called Corregidor Caldera. Before it became an important island fortress during the Second World War, Corregidor was a small fishing village. Today, the island is a popular tourist spot and historical site, commemorating the heroism of Filipino and American soldiers who bravely held their ground during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.

Corregidor ruins have been photographed countless times, and this photography trip hopes to provide fresh perspectives in capturing these subjects.
The pre-trip lecture will cover topics such as choosing a subject, finding a good vantage point, adjusting to the different lighting conditions, and knowing what camera and other equipment to bring. To take full advantage of the trip, participants are encouraged to plan ahead and research about the place.

During the trip, the participants will be shooting alongside the speaker-photographer. Additional pointers will be given for participants to capture the experience through their images.
To conclude the photo trip, participants must submit 2-3 photographs (printed in 8"x10") for critiquing. The best photos will be selected and will be exhibited at The Alcove photo gallery.

Requirements
- Digital camera, preferably SLR
- Basic knowledge of photography

Venue
The pre-trip lecture and post trip critiquing will be at the Filipinas Heritage Library, Makati Avenue, Ayala Triangle, Makati City (across from The Peninsula Manila). Assembly for the trip will be at the Sun Cruises ferry terminal, CCP Bay Terminal A, CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City (near Harbour Square).

Speaker
Jay Alonzo, who loves traveling and photography, is considered one of the best photographer-speakers in the country. He is a photo contributor for Mabuhay magazine, Philippine Airlines' in-flight magazine. His images have also been used in movie posters, billboards, and travelogues. He shares his passion for both travel and photography by teaching novice photographers.

Participation fee and discount
P7,000 inclusive of lecture fee, round-trip ferry transfers, guided island tour, exclusive use of a "Tranvia" bus for the special itinerary, terminal/entrance/shrine fees, meals, and hotel accommodation based on triple sharing (can be upgraded to twin/double sharing for an additional P400 and to single occupancy for an additional P800). Cash or check payments are accepted at the library or through a BPI bank deposit. Payment through BPI EPS and major credit cards is also accepted.

Due to the limited number of available slots, interested participants are requested to register on or before September 29 by paying at least P4,000 (nonrefundable; full payment is due on the first day of class).* An early bird discount of 5 percent will be given to those who pay in full on or before the deadline (except for credit card payments).

* Payment is transferable to another class if a written notice is given at least one month prior the photo trip. Otherwise, a P2,000 no-show penalty will be deducted.
