FDCP Sineng Pambansa Deadline Fast Approaching

Do you have a story in your mind that can be made into a compelling film?

If you want to join the growing ranks of the country’s young and dynamic filmmakers, many of whom have won national and international awards, now is your chance.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has launched the first National Film Competition which will reward the best screenplays submitted by aspiring directors and scriptwriters across the country with substantial seed money to translate their stories into quality films for local and even foreign exhibition.

The FDCP’s mandate is to promote the growth and development of the Philippine movie industry, spread awareness and appreciation for Philippine culture and history through film, and revitalize the Philippine movie industry by creating new opportunities for aspiring filmmakers as well as generating a bigger audience for Philippine cinema by bringing Filipino films to Filipino communities everywhere.

The nationwide scriptwriting and film competition seeks to highlight our outstanding film culture, while unifying the many diverse visions, views and voices of Filipino filmmakers across the country. The announcement of winners and awarding of prizes will be held either in the city of Davao

HIGHLIGHTS OF COMPETITION GUIDELINES:

· Open to Filipinos who have not written or co-written, directed or co-directed more than three films, documentaries or animated features.

· Three Categories:

o Feature Film Competition

o Full-Length Documentary

o Animated Short Film Competition

· Three Divisions in the Feature Film Competition and Full-Length Documentary Competition

o Luzon Division

o Visayas Division

o Mindanao Division

· National competition for animation

· Geographically oriented using language/dialect indigenous to setting

· Deadline for submission of screenplay is midnight of December 11, 2011

· Finalists announced December 29, 2011

· Filming starts January 2012 and final submission of films on May 30, 2012

· Festival in June 2012 at Davao City.

Dekada Cinemanila Announces Official Selections For Digital Lokal

Dekada Cinemanila announces official selections for Digital Lokal

Six films from acclaimed directors will compete for the prestigious Lino Brocka Award at Cinemanila's Digital Lokal competition.

Included in the official list of films in competition are the following: Imburnal by Sherad Anthony Sanchez; Next Attraction by Raya Martin; Ala Pobre Ala Suerte by Briccio Santos; Sisa by CJ Andaluz; Carnivore by Ato Bautista; and Ang Manghuhula by Paolo Herras.

Past Lino Brocka awardees Aureaus Solito, Dante Mendoza, and Raya Martin all gained international recognition. Solito's winning entry, Tuli, won Outstanding International Narrative Feature at the 2007 Outfest in Los Angeles and the NETPAC Award from the Berlin International Film Festival. Dante Mendoza's Manoro, on the other hand, garnered a record 7 nominations during the 30th Gawad Urian. Last year's Brocka winner, Raya Martin's Autohystoria bagged the Special Mention at the International Competition of the Marseille Film Festival.

Dekada Cinemanila will run from October 16-29 at Gateway Cineplex 1, Araneta Center, Quezon City. It is presented by the Independent Cinema Association of the Philippines (ICAP), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), and is supported by Gateway Cineplex 10, the Official Festival Venue, Philippine Airlines, Screen Australia and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). 9th Cinemanila to screen best films in Asia

IN commemoration of the ASEAN's 40th anniversary, the 9th Cinemanila
International Film Festival (CIFF) celebrates "ASEAN Astig!" The CIFF
will be showcasing several of the region's best films in an ASEAN
Cinema Focus. The official line-up will include Thailand's "The Dorm,"
"Alone," and "Syndromes and a Century"; and Malaysia's "Village People
Radio Show" and "Love Conquers All." The festival will screen several
films of Pen-ek Ratanaruang and Garin Nugroho, including the latter's
"Leaf on a Pillow," winner of the Lino Brocka Award in the first CIFF
in 1999. As part of its competition highlights, the CIFF will give an
award to the Best ASEAN Film of the year. A cash prize of P250,000
will be presented to the winner of this award. The Best ASEAN Short
Film will be similarly honored and the winner will receive a prize of
P50,000.00. These competitions and awards are made possible by the
joint efforts of the Film Development Council of the Philippines
(FDCP) and Cinemanila.

Seeking to promote the identity of ASEAN cinema, CIFF will also be
launching the SEAWAVE project this year. Some of the prominent
filmmakers of the region will each be contributing 3 to 5-minute films
revolving around the theme of "A Journey." The project will culminate
in the production of a 90-minute feature from the contributions, to be
previewed during the festival. Among the filmmakers who have been
invited to participate in the SEAWAVE project are Riri Riza, Nan
Achnas, and the I-Cinema Group of Indonesia; U-Wei bin Hajisaari, Tan
Chui Mui, and Amir Muhammad of Malaysia; Eric Khoo, Royston Tan, and
Kelvin Tong of Singapore; Nonzee Nimibutr, Apitchatpong Weerasethakul,
Wisit Sasanatieng, and Pen-ek Ratana-ruang of Thailand; and Pinoy
filmmakers Lav Diaz, John Torres, Raya Martin, Jeffrey Jeturian, Dante
Mendoza, Auraeus Solito, Chito Roño, and Rox Lee of the Philippines.

The 9th Cinemanila International Film Festival will have its run from
August 8 to 19 at Gateway Mall Cineplex 10 in Araneta Center, Quezon
City, and from August 17 to 19 in Boracay. The CIFF is organized

Celebrating Southeast Asian Cinema: ASEAN Cinema Focus in the 9th
