Mag:net Gallery

Dear Fellow Artists, Patrons and Friends,

It is with deep regret and sadness that we're announcing the closure
of Mag:net Gallery Paseo and Mag:net Gallery ABS. These two galleries
through these years have sustained existence with the generous support
from ORGMAC A, Inc. or Mag:net Plus making it possible for these
venues to operate as galleries for changing exhibitions devoted to
supporting young artists, new energies and bold innovations. Increase
in rental fees and other overhead expenses however and shift in our
landlord's corporate concepts have compelled us to stop operations
after our leases end by the end of this month.

We are especially sorry to the artists whose exhibitions will have to
be displaced, cancelled or postponed. Please bear with us until we can
find alternative locations otherwise for now, Mag:net Gallery
Katipunan or The Wall at Mag:net Café High Street (owned by ORGMAC B,
Inc or the Mag:net Café Group) are open to accommodate the displaced
shows.

It was in July 2002 when we first opened Mag:net Gallery in its Quezon
City location at the Loop, ELJ Communications Center, ABS-CBN
Compound. Mag:net Gallery Paseo in Makati followed the year after.
Ours were not perfect art spaces. Most of the time, we had to struggle
to maintain the integrity of these spaces. We also had our shares of
lapses and disappointments but despite these we could claim we had 5
good years and over a hundred significant shows to speak of- thank
you, thank you for the continued support and patronage.

Despite closure of our two venues, we would like to clarify that
Mag:net Gallery as an art institution and support system to artists
will continue to exist and operate. We are consolidating operations at
Mag:net Katipunan which facilities today include: a gallery space for
changing exhibitions, a bookstore and magazine shop that also carry
alternative music cds and experimental/ indie dvd films, a space for
performances, poetry readings, film screenings (Cinekatipunan) and art
talks, a gallery backroom that showcases the works of some 70 artists
we carry and a café that serves food and beverages at student-friendly
prices. Very soon we are putting up the Mag:net Virtual Gallery
website in addition to the café's www.mag;net. com.ph which is now
being developed by a group of graduating students from the Ateneo
computer department. We will also continue to manage our alternative
art space called The Wall at the newly opened Mag:net Café Bonifacio
High Street in the Global City in Taguig-Makati.

We invite you therefore to join us (no more requiem as planned
earlier) to celebrate Mag:net Gallery's 5th Year Anniversary on 7 July
2007, Saturday at 7PM at Mag:net Katipunan. We are coinciding this
event with the earlier-planned opening of the three- man show of
Filipino international artists Manuel Ocampo and Gaston Damag and
French artist, Damian Deroubaix.

See you in Mag:net Katipunan on 7-7-07 at 7 in the evening and THANK
YOU ALL..

Rock Drilon
Director, Mag:net Gallery / Chairman, Mag:net Café Group
