Artists' Talk on August 7: Imelda Cajipe-Endaya, Leo Abaya
EVERYONE is called to contribute to the cultural life of the nation. As the Scottish Funding Council stated in its document on cultural engagement, this creates an impact on the economy as well as produces social and cultural value. Institutions such as museums are at the forefront of the activity and receive great boosts from artists with whom it works.
Among the artists whose art reflects involvement are Imelda Cajipe-Endaya and Leo Abaya. On August 7, Saturday, 2 pm-4 pm, they will be featured in Artists' Talk at Lopez Memorial Museum and Library. Cajipe-Endaya's and Abaya's processes, choice of materials and subject matter, among others, exhibit their understanding of the challenges and possibilities of art as engagement.
Artists' Talk complements the exhibition After the Fact, which is ongoing until September 2010. The exhibition features the works of Cajipe-Endaya and Abaya as well as selections from the museums collections. Cajipe-Endaya and Abaya are both award-winning artists whose works explore human, cultural and political issues and identity, human relations and power.
