Don't Count the Chicks Until They Hatch, a group exhibition of recent works by young visual artists Xeres Tanya Villanueva, Manolo Sicat, Angelo Tabije, and Andoi Solon opens on July 13 (Sunday) at Kaida Gallery in Quezon City. The show runs until the end of the month.
The exhibition features four young and rising visual artists from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts (UP CFA) in Diliman Quezon City.
Manolo Sicat holds two Fine Arts degrees from the UP CFA: one in Visual Communications (2003) and another in Sculpture (2008). His undergraduate thesis, Concrete Evidences, was distinguished as one of the UP CFA's Outstanding Thesis this year.
Andoi Solon earned his degree in Painting from UP CFA this year. He is the Grand Prize Winner for the PLDT/DPC competition in 2006 and a 2008 Centennial Thesis Grantee by the UP CFA.
Xeres Tanya Villanueva also graduated with a degree in Painting this year. She has consistently gained recognition from the time she entered UP CFA to the time she graduated, holding the distinction of Outstanding Freshman Portfolio and a Best Thesis award.
Angelo Tajibe earned his degree in Painting from UP CFA in 2007. During his undergraduate years, he has bagged awards from art competitions, as the Grand Prize winner (oil/acrylic category) at the 6th Art Petron National Student Art Competition.
