PAEA Presents "Titser, Bawal Ang Nakasimangot sa Klasrum."

PAEA presents
"Titser, Bawal Ang Nakasimangot sa Klasrum."
Today’s Humor in the Classroom
November 29, 2008, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
PETA Bldg. Studio A & B

Have you been grouchy in your class? Arrogant? Bad-tempered? Chances are, your students have already labeled you as masungit. Some have probably wanted to skip from your class.

Humor is one of the best methods in helping students learn, that is at least for those who have the sense to understand humor’s significance in today’s lifestyle. However, our Filipino patriarchal mindset has created a tremendous gap between teacher-student relationship. The teacher, with that powers that be, has wittingly or unwittingly put himself into a pedestal which students are unable to reach. Added to that are still many factors that affect the teacher’s temperament which then influence the classroom mood. If only the student can say, "Tister, bawal ang nakasimangot sa klasrum."

When you are in a laughing, funny mode, your students learn a great deal from you. Nakakatawa ka naman ba? Anyone’s sense of humor, most especially that of the teacher can contribute greatly in effecting a positive scenario while promoting a comfortable social environment and encouraging a healthy rapport within the classroom. It is in this setting that the children’s willingness to learn increase. Nagpapatawa ka ba? Resourcefull teachers know how to use their humor and they become very effective that the students become well-motivated and learning is more enhanced. Paano ka magpatawa? Do students find you really funny? Or corny? Is there never a dull moment in your classroom? Do they look forward to attending your class? If not, learn from the authorities, listen to their funniest moments and laugh out loud.
