Produced by the Manila Broadcasting Company, Art 2 Art is aired nationwide every Sunday, 3:30 to 4 p.m., on DZRH (666 khz on the AM band), and can be viewed simultaneously on Cablelink cable television’s Channel 9 and accessed on the Internet through the website http://dzrh.tripod.com.
Featured this month are the following episodes:
September 4 – Dr. Isagani Cruz, respected writer, critic and educator, discusses a wide range of pop-culture topics, including: the spread of social networking sites and how it is also shaping and changing literature; the line dividing reviews and critiques; and how artists can help develop critical thinking among the public not just when it comes to art and culture but in other aspects of life such as politics, education and media.
September 11 – Art icon Juvenal Sanso—described as “Spanish by birth, Filipino by heart”--describes his family's journey to the Philippines, his childhood in Manila and the eventual hardships they would experience during the war. Speaking in both English and Filipino, Sanso also recalls how his interest in art developed, mentored by the likes of Fernando Amorsolo, on his way to nurturing his own career now spanning six decades.
September 18 – Samantha Sotto shares the amazing story of her transition from full-time mom to internationally published author with the recent release of her first novel, Before Ever After, by Random House. Likening it to a fairy tale, Sotto says she still can't quite believe everything that has happened even as she prepares for more book promo tours in Singapore and in the US and as she completes her second novel.
September 25 – Art 2 Art caps the month with a tribute to National Artist Severino Montano, an actor, director and playwright who helped establish the institution of legitimate theater in the Philippines. Serving as resource person is esteemed stage and film actress Rustica Carpio. The National Artist tribute has been a monthly feature of the program since it began airing in 2007.
