LCF’s ‘Rising from Ruin: The Story of Bohol’ lecture and exhibit opening on July 26

Explore the state of Bohol’s built heritage after the devastation of last year’s earthquake, and the shift in attention toward provinces devastated by typhoon Haiyan.

LCF is a Philippine network of over 80 operating and grant-making corporate foundations and corporations, including the Lopez Group Foundation. It promotes and enhances the strategic practice of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among its members and the larger business community toward sustained national development. Members participate in various events organized by its secretariat and LCF’s five program-based committees: Arts and Culture, Education, Enterprise, Environment and Health.

Inauguration of 7th Spanish Film Festival PELIKULA 2008

To inaugurate the 7th Spanish Film Festival PELIKULA 2008, Instituto Cervantes presents a film by Nacho G. Velilla entitled "Chef´s Special". "Inspired, graceful, opportune, full of traditional customs and a lamentable social touch, filmed a bit fast, and in spite of everything interpreted with certain conviction" film critics would say, there is no better way to open a two week long festival of Spanish films in celebrating a month of FIESTA with a comedy that makes you enjoy laughing until in the end. This opening ceremony will be graced by the film director himself at 7pm in Cinema 2 of Greenbelt 3 in Makati.

PELICULA 2007 Author on Focus: María Ripoll

María Ripoll ( Barcelona , 1964) studied Cinema at the UCLA and the American Film Institute. She has worked both in the USA and Spain and has shown versatility in directing various films from different genres, from romantic comedies such as Tortilla Soup (2001) and Lluvia en los zapatos (1999) to adventure films like La aventura del intrépido (1999).

María Ripoll will grace PELÍCULA by presenting her two most recent films: the bittersweet story Tu vida en 65 (2006) and the thriller Utopía (2003), on their premiere showing on October 2.
