DRAWING ON THE GLIMMER OF THE MOVING IMAGE.
The rise of digital technology has brought about one of the most important developments in the arts and entertainment of recent years. As the century turned, digital cameras and computer editing systems became affordable, and therefore, almost anyone with just the will and desire could create movies. In the Philippines , as in the rest of the world, cinema has progressively relocated its industrial unit from thestudio to the privacy of one’s own home or office.
The independent movement, as we are wont to call it, has indeed paved the way for freedom of expression to flourish, and consequently, the digital film has become an essential medium for communication. However, since the means of production of images has alreadybeen handed over to the people, it is NOW up to us toput our creative freedom to good use.
