RHETORIC AND THEATER EDUCATORS ASSEMBLY
The Association of Rhetoric and Theater Educators will hold its First Annual Assembly and Seminar-workshop in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts with the theme "Theater Arts: Catalyst For Social Transformation. "
The dates and venues are October 28, 2008 at Bacolod Chicken Inasal in Quezon Memorial Park, Elliptical Road, Quezon City and on October 29 and 30, 2008 at the Café Hasmin Hostel, Polytechnic University of the Philippines on Valencia St., Sta. Mesa, Manila. All activities will start at 8:00 a.m.
Day1: Undersecretary Dr. Vilma L. Labrador, Chair of the NCCA will speak on "Cultural Education in the Country." Presidential Adviser for Culture and NCCA Executive Director Cecille
Guidote-Alvarez will dwell on "Theater Arts: Catalysts for Social Transformation, " while Ambassador and UNESCO Commissioner Preciosa S. Soliven will speak on "UN Millennium Development Goals."
Day 2: Dr. Ricky G. Abad, Head of the Theater Department of Ateneo de Manila University will speak on "Theater Arts: Tool in the Formatting of Filipino Character."
Following Dr. Abad's piece is the presentations of Dr. Anita M. Navarro, Philippine Normal University Humanities Professor with the topic, "Effective Education and Value Formation for Children."
Noted scriptwriter Ricky Lee, Creative Manager of ABS-CBN will present "Theater As Origin f Film and Television."
Day 3: CHED Commissioner Dr. Nona S. Ricafort will speak on "Government Support for Theater Education." There will be workshops during the Conference.
