Bikol Express Benefit Concert

BIKOL EXPRESS

a benefit show for the victims of reming in tabaco city
no.92 road 1 cor. road 33, project 6, qc
tel:454-6468 telefax:259- 5292

BIKOL EXPRESS is a series of shows which will be held in selected bars in Metro Manila to raise funds for typhoon Reming victims residing in the St. John the Baptist Parish, Tabaco City, Albay. Initiated by artists in response to appeals for help from Bicolanos, BIKOL EXPRESS is now a cooperative endeavor among both Bicolanos and non-Bicolanos bound by one motivation, the desire to help.

BIKOL EXPRESS is taken from the name of the popular spicy hot bicol dish consisting of pure hot pepper cooked in coconut milk and enhanced with diced pork and bagoong alamang. It is also an adaptation from bicol express referring to the train that, once upon a time, was the only link from Manila to the Bicol region.

Like the dish which produces a warm feeling when ingested, the BIKOL EXPRESS is expected to generate the same warmth typical of affectionate (cariñoso) Bicolanos towards others, this time towards the victims of typhoon Reming. It is the organizers’ prayer that the warmth from these efforts would enkindle hope in the hearts of the typhoon victims knowing that there are those who care and who share.

BIKOL EXPRESS also draws its meaning from the speed of the train that runs the Manila – Bicol route. BIKOL EXPRESS is a fast response at a time when help is most needed.

BIKOL EXPRESS shall feature performances by performing artists, raffle of donated art works such as paintings, photographs and the like during the concert, and other activities aimed at raising more funds for the cause.

St. John the Baptist Parish is the producer of BIKOL EXPRESS and shall be the lone beneficiary of the project.

Three bars have been identified as venues, namely: Newsdesk- Dec. 14, 70’s Bistro-Dec. 23 and Conspiracy- Dec. 26.

Donations in kind and in cash will be accepted at designated booths during the shows and after the shows at BIKOL EXPRESS coordinating center, 92 Road 1 cor. Road 33, Project 6, Q.C. Pls. call 454-6468 or 259-5292 for inquiries. Ask for Menchu. Thank you.
