Pink Film Festival 2006 Schedule | Philippines

PINK FILM FESTIVAL 2006 sets a taste of 2007 Grand Event

On it's fourth edition this year, the country's most uproarious film event, the PINK FESTIVAL (The International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival), kicks off this December 12 and 13 at 6PM, at Gateway Mall in Araneta Center, Cubao with emphasis on health and human rights of the gay community.

Last year, the 3rd Pink Film Festival played to full houses of students and teachers in Manila and Davao cities. The Festival with the theme IN THE PINK OF HEALTH presented short films, documentaries and full feature films from all over the world and helped raise awareness on community health and HIV/AIDS issues.

This year, Pink Film Festival 2006 with the theme PINK IN HARMONY, we dwell on the social movement in working for equality, as well as hopes for strengthening the LGBT communities in the Philippines and the whole world, reproductive health issues, HIV/AIDS, adolescent sexuality, sexually transmitted infections and other issues that intersect with or do not depart widely from LGBT and reproductive health concerns.

Philippines' Pink Film Festival 2006
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The Festival aims to up that bar with which other festivals of this kind would be seen and judged. Starting with a kick-off at Gateway Mall on December 12, 6PM and looking at a thunderous ending with a Pink Party on December 16, 9PM at Cuba Libre Bar in Starmall-EDSA Shaw, screenings will be held along with the previously mentioned venues on Metropolis (December 15 at 4PM).

This mini event will showcase 4 pink short films (Geegee at Waterina by Mariami Tanangco, Flowers from the Heartland-A Documentary by U.S.-based director, Peter Daulton, Pinakamahabang One-night Stand by Eduardo Roy Jr., Out on a Holiday by Fillipino-Canadian Director Cal Garingan) and JUPIT directed by Alvin Fortuno to be screened on the 13th of December.

The opening of the Pink Film Festival 2006 will also showcase a one of its kind GAY and LESBIAN INVITATIONAL CHORALE COMPETITION and a mini fashion show by Valentino Magazine.

Mowelfund Film Institute spearheaded by Director Nick Deocampo is organizing mini-events to precede the festival itself which will be highlighted by a Mardi gras celebration on June 2007.

"We lay this up with superior goals. We brawl for the importance of life, the acceptance and the understanding of those people around us, impartiality and the peace of mind, promote safe sex, AIDS awareness, acceptance, equality and protection against the disease, homophobia and prejudice. We yearn to free our people from the old twisted mistaken belief they have about the us- the Pink Community ."
according to Mr. Posh Subillaga Tabor, this year's festival manager.

Pink Film Festival 2006
Presented by Mowelfund Film Institute, Pro Gay Philippines, Quezon City Government, Marikina City Government and the National Commission for Culture and Arts and co-celebrated with the unified Pink Community- Fabuloush.com, GP Magazine, O Bar, CircuitAsia, Valentino Magazine, Bed Bar, Guys4Men.com, Mini Stop, Top & Bottom Shop, Coverboy, Subas Catering, Microdata Philippines, Starmall EDSA-Shaw, Metropolis Mall- Alabang, Gateway Cineplex 10, Yes FM and ABS-CBN.
