Course on Philippine Visual Art at the National Museum

Comprehensive Course on Philippine Visual Art
February 6, 2007 to February 9, 2007,
9am-4pm
National Museum

The National Museum will offer a 4-day comprehensive course on
Philippine Visual Art on February 6-9, 2007. Classes will be held
from 9a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 4th Floor Conference Room of the
National Museum, Finance Road, Manila.

The Comprehensive Course on Philippine Visual Art
will include the following topics:

DAY I February 6, 2007
AM - MODULE I
Speaker: Dr. Brenda Fajardo
Nature, Elements & Organization of Art
Perception and Appreciation of Art

PM - MODULE II
Speaker: Dr. Norma Respicio
Summary of Pre-Colonial & Southeast Asian Cultures
Pre-Colonial Art in the Philppines
Indigenous Art of the Muslim Regions & Mountain Province

DAY 2 February 7, 2007
MODULE III
Speaker: Dr. Patrick Flores
Philippine Art During the Spanish Colonial Period (17th, 18th, 19th
century)
Philippine Art During the American Colonial Period until the
Japanese Occupation
Post War to the Present

DAY 3 February 8, 2007
AM - MODULE IV
Speaker: Dr. Patrick Flores
Overvie & Tour of the Nationla Art Gallery
Study and Appreciation of the Artwaorks on exhibit at the National
Art Gallery

PM - MODULE V
SPEAKER: Carlos Celdran
Workshop on Scriptwiritng/ Guiding the Galleries

DAY 4 February 9, 2007
Skills Practice
Guiding Activity with Assessment
Closing Program/Distributio n of Certiicates

Couse fee is P5000. inclusive of handouts, snacks and lunch.

Who should attend. The course is intended as a docent training for
would -be guides and trainers of guides.

Since there are only 30 slots available. Priority will be given to
those who are willing to serve as volunteer guides to the National
Art Gallery.
