Norberto Roldan mounts a major work in oil on canvas in a bid to blur distinction between his practice in advertising and visual arts as both graphic designer and multi-media artist.

The attempt of using oil as medium in this new collection of mixed-media works is a conscious device to create a diversionary tactic from camouflaging the real issue the exhibition is confronting - Oil, the raison d’être of much of the economic and political conflict in the middle East and in contemporary world.

Using found images from mass media, Norberto Roldan attempts to blur distinctions between art and propaganda, between painting and poster, and between public advocacy and personal ideology.

"Oil" by Norberto Roldan was launched last Saturday, December 2, 2006, at the Mag:net Gallery Katipunan.
