Concert at the Park presents Indak-Indak, Sayaw Pinoy

This Sunday, November 11, 2006, starting at 5:00 p.m., Concert at the Park .presents a newly formed dance troupe from Nueva Ecija – the Novo Ecijanos Dance Troupe of Gloria D. Lacson Foundation College, Nueva Ecija, under the artistic direction of Mario Eugenio, in a program titled “Indak-Indak, Sayaw-Pinoy”. Venue is the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium, Rizal Park, Manila. Admission is free.

After 42 years of being the artistic director/founder of the Araullo University Dance Troupe of Cabanatuan, Mario Eugenio moved to another challenge of his life and formed the Novo Ecijanos Dance Troupe of Gloria D. Lacson Foundation College, located at Castellano, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija, under Gov. Tomas Joson III. All members of the dance troupe enjoy a scholarship from the Nueva Ecija Provincial Government. More than fifty percent of membership comes from the Gloria D. Lacson Foundation College. The remaining percent, from the different colleges and universities of the province. Having talented members and the rigid training imposed by Prof. Eugenio to all members, the dance troupe, even if just 3 months old, has already made numerous performances around the Nueva Ecija area. This Sunday’s presentation is the group’s debut performance in Manila. The troupe is being managed by Engr. Massoud Shamsoddin, Vice President of the Gloria D. Lacson Foundation College.

This Sunday’s “Indak-Indak, Sayaw-Pinoy” consists of the following dance suites: DANCES OF THE CORDILLERA – Niglin, Sulip, Chieftain and Tapis; DANCES OF YESTERYEARS – Paseo de Iloilo, Lanceros de Tayabas, Mazurka Boholana and Jota de Manila; SEASHORE OF MINDANAO – Vinta, Silong sa Ganding, Pangalay and Kapu Malong Malong; and DANCES OF THE COUNTRYSIDE – Maligayang Araw, Lapay, Bayluhan, Sayaw sa Bangko, Kuratsa, Subli, Pastores, Maglalatik and Ati-Ati sa Bukid.
