Art In The Park Reminder
Museum Foundation of the Philippines promises a pre-holiday treat for young and old with the second Art In The Park this November 18, 2006 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Velasquez Park, Salcedo Village, Makati.
Museum Foundation president Maribel Ongpin cordially invites the general public to this "entertaining, educational and affordable event that provides all with the opportunity to include art in their holiday activities."
First held earlier this year in June to coincide with the second anniversary of the Salcedo Community Market, Art In The Park continues to be supported by Barangay Bel-Air headed by Kapitana Nene Lichauco and MACEA through president Adolfo Duarte.
Inspired by the weekly Art Fair at The Rocks in Sydney, Australia, Museum Foundation's Lisa Periquet, Trickie Lopa, Tana Lopa, Mailin Locsin, Pepper Roxas, Dindin Araneta and Tricia Limon conceptualized Art In The Park to create a leisurely atmosphere in which people can buy and enjoy paintings, prints, photographs and sculptures by both young and veteran Filipino artists.
All works will be reasonably priced with P20,000 as the maximum and the rest comfortably lower. For the buyers' convenience, credit cards will be accepted. A special installment plan (three months, 0% interest) is also an option as arranged by the Bank of the Philippine Islands.
Participant Tina Fernandez of Art Informal says that "part of the charm of Art In The Park is that it's like a being on a treasure hunt."
A portion of the sales will support the Museum Foundation's work in raising awareness for the National Museum.
Among other galleries participating in Art In The Park are: Art for Space, Art Inday, Artwalk Gallery, Blanc Art Space, Boston Art Gallery, Galeria de las Islas, Hiraya Gallery, L'Arc en Ciel, Nineveh Art Space, One Workshop, Ricco Renzo Galleries, Silverlens Gallery and Tin-Aw/Slash Art. Other groups exhibiting are Ilustrador ng Kabataan, KASIBULAN, and Kulay Marikina. Students from the fine arts and architectural colleges of St. Benilde, Far Eastern University, and FEATI will also be present.
Everyone is invited to come to Art in the Park. For more information, please contact the Museum Foundation office at 404-2685 or 0918-585-0383 and look for Elvie Magpayo or Patricia Limon.
