The Yuchengco Museum at the RCBC Towers in Makati City is presenting a collection of artworks entitled Sino-Filipino: Three Visions by three Filipino contemporary artists of Chinese ancestry from Nov. 7, 2006 to Jan. 30, 2007.
Featured in the exhibit are National Artist for Visual Arts Ang Kiukok, Lao Lianben and Bacolod's Charlie Co.
Curated by Jeannie Javelosa, "Sino Filipino: Three Visions" is the first museum-created exhibit of the Yuchengco Museum that will show three Tsinoy artists with totally different visions, styles and techniques. Ang Kiukok's works mostly are singular subjects depicting poverty, angst, loneliness and pain, yet with vibrant colors and precise strokes.
Lao's paintings are commonly monochromatic in color, minimalist and Zen-like in nature, while Co's works comment on social, political and personal themes in a surrealist and figurative manner.
Despite these differences in their respective generations, the show at the Yuchengco Museum will bring together each of the artist's visions and energies into a uniquely relevant exhibition that make up Kiukok, Lao and Co's strong mark in the Filipino contemporary art scene.
The Yuchengco Museum is located at the RCBC Plaza in Makati City.
