Lighting for Portrait Photography in Taal, Batangas
November 25, 2006
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Discover the town of Taal, Batangas through your camera lens. This town offers not only an extraordinary view of a lake within a volcano within a lake but also historic museums, ancestral houses, churches, and other architectural landmarks. With its many natural and man-made attractions, it is an ideal setting for taking photographs of people.
Inspired by picturesque Taal, this seminar covers the basics of lighting for portrait photography in an exciting new setting. It aims to reduce the complexity of light and illumination to a learnable level, and show its application in photographing people as subjects in a non-studio setup. It will allow the participants to:
Learn the fundamental principles of lighting and its importance in creating better portraits
Master the primary controllable characteristics of light, both natural and artificial, and see how they apply to portraiture
Become familiar with the different in-studio lighting tools, both standard and improvised, to achieve desired lighting results
Master the systematic way of setting up lighting for portrait shots using artificial light sources
Adjust to varying shooting conditions
Requirement
Must have taken the Primer on Lighting workshop or an equivalent class
Film-based or digital camera with manual exposure control
Optional: exposure-flash meter
