FILIPINO-Canadian stars Darrel Gamotin, Nadine Villasin, Nicco
Lorenzo Garcia and Caroline Mangosing lend sparks in a new horror
movie, "Ang Pamana (The Inheritance) " from the Digital Sweatshop,
Incorporated.
Their fine performances blended dramatically with mainstream stars
Victor Neri, Phoemela Barranda, Cholo Barretto and Ketchup Eusebio.
Also in the casting cameo roles are Tirso Cruz III, Jacklyn Jose,
Angel Aquino, Susan Africa and Noni Buencamino.
"Ang Pamana (The Inheritance) " is the first Canada-Philippines co-
production with an all Filipino-Canadian creative team. According to
its director, Romeo Candido, "We embarked on creating a modern
Filipino folktale, the kind of bedtime story our lolas would tell us
of the `homeland' in the safe bedrooms of our childhood in Canada.
The Philippines had `magic realist' stories before there was even a
term for it."
True to what he stated, he has created an awesome array of horror
characters indigenous to the Philippines like the aswang, the kapre,
the multo and the manananggal. They all hovered at the family farm
in rural Bulacan inherited by the three grandchildren of Lola Nena
(played by Caroline Mangosing, also the producer). Find out how they
survived the horror of it all in an infested place of maligno.
TV host Phoemela Barranda is a revelation here. "She was so natural"
says director Candido. "She was acting but not really acting."
After this movie is released by Solar Entertainment in Metro Manila
theaters on Novemver 22, these Fil-Canadian stars will be talked
about for bringing fine screen performances. Moreover, the movie
itself is raking a lot of accolades after the Cinema Evaluation
Board gave it an "A" rating.
